Annual Alumni Get-together and Community Service Award Function - A Report |

The annual alumni Get-together of the Chennai Chapter of Our College was
held on 19th October 2008 at Hotel Savera, Chennai at 6 pm.
Hon’ble Justice S. Ashok Kumar, Judge, High
Court, Andhra Pradesh exalted the services rendered by Jamal Mohamed
College in Academic, Extra Curricular and other Community Services. He
recalled his association with Jamal Mohamed College, when he was a
student of St. Joseph’s College during 1966-68. He had all praise for
the dedication, commitment and devotion of the Management, Teaching
staff and Alumni. He praised the contributions made by the Alumni,
especially Thiru T.R. Pachamuthu, Chancellor, SRM
University who contributed Rs. 35 lakhs and the scholarship
endowments created by IAS officers like
Mr. Panneervel, Mr. Govindan, and Mr. Elangovan.
He also praised the Rajya Sabha
MPs for their contributions to the College
by constructing buildings out of their Local Area Development Fund
including Hon’ble Union Minister, Thiru G.K. Vasan,
Thiru Gnanadesikan
M.P., Thiru N. Siva,
M.P. Our illustrious alumnus
Thiru L. Ganesan, M.P.
has given two buildings from his Local Area Development Fund.
Thirumathi Vasanthi Stanley,
M.P. had all praise to the Institution for
promoting Women education especially for Muslim Women during the II
Shift in the College. As a Member of the State Minority Commission and
as a Member of the National Commission for Minority Educational
Institutions, she recalled how she could help the College in getting
Government Scholarship for the Women students studying during II Shift.
She also announced that she will allot Rs. 10 lakhs from her MP Local Area Development Fund
next year for the construction of a building for Women students.
Dr. Ponnavaikko, Vice-Chancellor,
Bharathidasan University said that Jamal
Mohamed College is the No. 1 College in respect of students strength,
staff strength, number of courses, number of buildings, lab and library
facilities. He also praised that more than 15 buildings are constructed
from the contributions of former students. |
